I finally painted the hull! In the morning, I added a layer of varnish to the oars, like usual, though I didn’t add any more to the rails or the seats. Instead, once I was done with the varnishing, I removed the tape that I used to keep the varnish from getting onto the hull. I then added a strip of tape to the rails to protect them from the inevitable spillage. I also used a static cloth to get every bit of dust off the hull. Before I started painting, I got some tips from Corby about how to use a paint roller to get a smooth finish.
Then, it was time to start! I use a paint roller to get the paint on initially, then went back over everything with a foam brush to knock down the peaks the paint roller caused. I’m glad I taped the entire rail because I got a lot of paint on it!
After that, I tried to get the lines more visible on the nameplate but I think that I just need to paint in the lines.
